Reward Jumps To $5K In Woman's Homicide
Police hope a $6,000 reward will generate tips leading to the arrest of the person who killed 37-year-old Tammy Cochran. Cochran's burned body was found last week near a boat ramp outside of Olathe. The victim's family increased the reward for information leading to an arrest. "We know there's somebody out there who knows who or what person or persons did this," said Mike Cochran, Tammy's father. "She was too good a person to deserve something like this -- she didn't deserve to die like this." Mike Cochran said his daughter had battled a drug addiction and was putting her life back together. "The last few weeks I got to spend with her, I got to hug her every day. We'd go on job interviews and we bought all the equipment for her job and clothes, and her mother and I did get to spend time with her doing that, and those memories will never ever be forgotten," Mike Cochran told KMBC's Kelly Eckerman. Police released surveillance pictures of Cochran taken a few days before her body was found. Anyone who saw Cochran around Feb. 29 is asked to call the Crime Stoppers TIPS hot line at 816-474-TIPS. "Hopefully they'll get caught and we'll get some justice out of this. We're going to miss her for the rest of our lives and we're going to love her the rest our her lives," Mike Cochran said.

2008 Bluegrass Open
2008 USAPL Bluegrass Open Jan. 5th 2008 Henderson, KY wt. 216 SQ1-440 good SQ2-474 good SQ3-507 good BP1-319 good BP2-341 good BP3-363 miss DL1-529 good DL2-573 good DL3-606 miss This was a very good meet. I lifted at this meet once before a few years ago and it has grown a lot since then. There where about 50-60 lifters spread out over four flights. The meet ran very smooth. The platform equipment was very good and all the judges and meet personnel did a fantastic job putting on the meet. This was the first time that I have ever competed raw. I loved it! This was probably the most fun I have had lifting since my very first competition. It was really nice not having to worry about putting all the gear on. I would recommend doing a meet raw to anybody, it was a blast. Overall I was really pleased with my lifting. Squats went about like I wanted. I had struggled with my technique all training up to this meet, but when I got to the meet everything kind of fell into place and my technique felt really good. Bench presses went pretty good too. My 3rd attempt with 363 stalled about half way up, I touched about an inch to low and was never able to get under the weight and lock it out. Deadlifts also felt pretty good. I pulled my 3rd attempt weight pretty easy in training but by the time I got to it in the meet I was gassed. Maybe next time. Thieves Steal Quadriplegic's Van
Aaron Blanford doesn't have the use of his arms or legs and now, he has no way to get around the city after someone stole his handicap-accessible van. "I mean, it hurt so bad. I can't even cry -- that's how bad it is," Blanford told KMBC's Jim Flink. A motorized scooter is Blanford's only way of getting around now. Blanford said his brother first noticed the van was gone. He said, 'Where's your van?' I said, 'It's outside.' And he said, 'No, it's gone,'" Blanford said. Flink reported that the only evidence of the crime is shards of glass on the ground outside of Blanford's apartment. No one saw or heard anything. The van is described as a burgundy 1986 Chevrolet 20 with gray stripes. It had a high dome with orange gasket seals around it. "It was in need of a paint job. But it was reliable transportation," Blanford said. Blanford suspects someone in the neighborhood took the van. "I'm already down on my luck, and people just don't care," Blanford said. Anyone who has seen the van is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
