Elvis Presley You Gave Me A Mountain (1/14/73)
Elvis Presley You Gave Me A Mountain (1/14/73) Written by Marty Robbins. Elvis recorded this song live several times, one of the first times being April 9, 1972 during his performance in Hampton Roads, VA which was seen in the documentary Elvis On Tour, and June 21, 1977 during the Elvis in Concert TV show filmed in Rapid City, SD. There are other versions available from 1972 during 1972 and 1973 that are also available. The live master, which I believe is the April 9, 1972 version, is available on Walk a Mile in My Shoes-The Essential 70s Masters. He also sang this song during the Aloha From Hawaii Satellite Concert January 14, 1973, which is where this version is from, which is available on the Aloha from Hawaii CD and Elvis Aron Presley silver box set. Born in the heat of the desert My mother died giving me life Deprived of the love of a father Blamed for the loss of his wife You know Lord I've been in a prison For something that I never done It's been one hill after another and I've climbed them all one by one Oh But this time, Lord you gave me a mountain A mountain I may never climb It isn't Lord a hill any longer You gave me a mountain this time My woman got tired of heartaches Tired of the grief and the strife So tired of working for nothing Just tired of being my wife She took my one ray of sunshine She took my pride and my joy She took my reason for living She took my small baby boy Oh and this time, Lord you gave me a mountain A mountain I may never climb It isn't Lord a hill any longer You gave me a mountain this time You gave me a mountain this time A mountain, this time, oh oh oh

General Hospital - 1994-1995 Pt 73 Monica's Breast Cancer
February 1995. Monica asks Alan if he wouldn't mind going home. She's going to be going home herself in a week and she feels guilty that he's had to endure her cancer without even knowing if his presence has helped her. Alan asks if it has and she she says yes. Alan agrees to go home, much to Monica's surprise. He says he'll be relieved because Monica has acknowledged that this hasn't been easy for him and that she knows he needs a break. They're being honest with each other and that's what matters. Later, they're at Paige and Emily's playing Hearts when Emily "shoots the moon" (for those who don't know Hearts, it's one way of winning ... that gets you tons of points and isn't a very easy way of winning either.) Emily shows Alan her tarantulas (and bonds with Alan ... foreshadowing or what, eh?) while Paige tells Monica that the doctors have found a lump on her rib. This will be her 3rd cancer and they both look at each other knowing the prognosis probably won't be good.
